Get ready for Terrific Tuesday as Team GB targets six gold medals at the Rio Olympics

Two days after Sensational Sunday, Team GB are hoping today will be Terrific Tuesday as they target no fewer than six gold medals.

After Sunday’s incredible showing of five gold medals and three silver, GB athletes have challenged themselves to go one better on what promises to be a memorable day on the cycling track, on the water and in the gym.

Laura Trott and her fiance Jason Kenny will lead the charge in the velodrome, together with cycling team-mate Becky James.

In the diving pool, Jack Laugher will try to add gold in the 3m springboard individual event to the gold he won with partner Chris Mears in the synchronised diving.

Nile Wilson is ranked as a strong medal contender in the men’s horizontal bar in the gymnasium, and will be inspired by his team-mateMax Whitlock’s double gold medal on Sunday.

And one Briton already has a gold medal today: sailor Giles Scott has an unassailable lead in the Finn class and will confirm gold just by starting the final race.
